You do not need to join our FC to sign up for missions or other services we offer, but you must join our Discord. We are HIRING. Looking for Consultants (Writers), Mission Leader (DM), and Specialists.

We are a 21+ only CWLS, FC and Discord community. Most of our community in-game happens in our CWLS, but the majority of our communication happens in our Discord. Participating in the Discord allows you to sign up for missions, join us for non-RP events and non-XIV game nights, and generally just be a part of our broader community that isn't always entirely focused on RP. Most importantly, it keeps you up to date on all the lately announcements about the FC and venue. Our CWLS is reserved for members of the community that are actively involved in our RP with an assigned role, or anyone that has invested in us through one of our VIP programs. Our Discord is open to anyone that meets the requirements for participating in our community which can be found here. If you agree to our rules and meet our requirements, please reach out for a link to our Discord.

  • 21+ Community. The Whisper Network & The Whispering Masquerade is an adults only free company, venue, and community. There will be mature themes present, and while most of it will be behind closed doors, there may occasionally be mature themes present in public spaces. Due to this, all members, guests, and their characters must be at least 21 years of age. There are no exceptions. Anyone found to be under 21 will be removed from the Discord, FC, and/or event, however many apply..

  • Consent. “Yes means yes.” The absence of yes is unequivocally a no. All types of RP require consent, and consent can be revoked at any time, for any reason. Everyone in our community must respect each other’s choice to consent or revoke consent. Failure to do so is an immediate dismissal from the Discord, FC, and/or event.

  • Respect. Everyone in our community is expected to always respect each other. We will not always agree with each other, it is okay to agree to disagree. Be kind, be respectful, be loving.

  • ICly =/= OOCly. Any activities, feelings, or actions performed ICly do not translate to OOCly activities, feelings, or actions. Do not breach the ICly/OOCly divide, always keep ICly and OOCly actions separate. Do not make assumptions OOCly based on what happens ICly.

  • Trigger Warnings. Any content, whether it be RP, screenshots, or otherwise that could be considered a trigger should be provided with a warning before hand, or using spoiler tags in Discord with a warning of the content.

  • Moderation. Both the Community Discord and the FC Discord are heavily moderated, by both automoderation and our hard working staff. Please utilize the NSFW channels for lewd screenshots. Do not post them in any channels not marked NSFW.

  • Mature RP. Everyone in this community is expected to be 21+, but not everyone consents at all times to mature content and themes. Please keep mature RP to private settings, such as /tell or /party, or one of our many private rooms. All NSFW and triggering content should be kept to these private settings.

  • Lore Breaking. We understand that some players want to create unique characters that may not follow the established XIV lore and we support players RPing however they desire. However, in our community, we do not acknowledge lore-divergent or lore-breaking aspects of a character, such as voidsent players, Warriors of Light, and characters hailing from other dimensions than ‘the Source.’

The Whisper Network strives to be a broad, inclusive community that creates unique and fun roleplay opportunities for roleplayers of all skill levels and interests. We acknowledge that our community will not be a perfect fit for everybody but we do attempt to create a welcoming environment that fosters friendship and enjoyment of gaming and roleplay. The following are a list of rules that apply to those that actively participate in our RP and have a role, such as Whisper, Aegis, Staff, etc.Active Times: 3pm PST - 10pm PSTHeadquarters: Mateus, Shirogane, W13, P25Philosophy: We are a heavy RP FC that is focused on creating cohesive storylines through shared storytelling on specific nights of the week while advancing our individual stories and expanding the depth to our characters.Schedule

Missions

Missions are at the core of the experience that is offered at The Whisper Network. Our writing team develops lore friendly missions of various backgrounds based on information learned in the game, the Final Fantasy XIV Encyclopedia Eorzia I & II, and other sources of canonized lore for the game. These missions are then hosted by our Mission Masters, which are our version of Dungeon Masters that utilize our unique style of interactive combat to tell a unique and unforgettable story for each group that accepts one of our missions. While each mission as a "core" that is the same each time, the missions themselves are designed in a way that each playthrough is unique and entertaining, with the Mission Leaders given complete creative control to create an experience that is tailored to their grouped with an adventure and outcome that is not predetermined. If you are not part of our FC but are interested in enrolling in a mission, please see the mission sign up process below.

Lead Consultant: Roronzo Sesenzo

Consultants are the creative team at The Whisper Network. Their responsibilities focus on writing and organizing missions and scenes for The Whisper Network. A Consultant will work with both the public, in the form of guests and clients, as well as within the FC itself with our specialists. They are expected to actively participate in the writing process, submitting at least one new mission prompt per week. Consultants will primarily be active during venue nights and on an as-needed basis, with a significant amount of their responsibilities taking place in the Discord servers. Consultants have the following expectations:

  • Submit at least one mission prompt per week.

  • Create plot hooks for clients.

  • Create background stories/histories for clients.

  • Create custom scenes for clients.

  • Help set up a personal story progression scene for clients.

Consultants are paid a flat 50k per mission submitted that meets our standards. A consultant may submit up to three missions per week for compensation.

Lead Specialist: W'rakhara Tohlm

Specialists are the bread and butter of our small group RP scenes. A Specialist can be anyone, ranging from a legendary adventurer, an alchemist, a bounty hunter, or anyone else interested in participating in our mission style RP. There are no morale guidelines for Specialists, they could be a stalwart paladin that serves under her Majesty, or a vile criminal that picks the pockets of the elderly. As long as you complete your mission, you get paid. Complete enough missions, you get promoted and get paid more. It's not a complicated or complex role, but it is one of the most important ones.✦ You are expected to participate in your small group’s RP scene planning and execution. If you are not assigned a mission, your small group is free to choose one from the information broker’s mission board.✦ Every week you must submit a mission report that details your involvement in the previous week’s mission, not the current week’s mission. The report is due by Sunday.✦ You do not have a specific role at venue nights but you may socialize or participate as staff. If you participate as staff, you will be paid extra.✦ Specialists, as with all roles, may offer paid RP sessions and photography services if they desire to do so.✦ You must participate in your weekly small group RP and turn in your weekly mission report to get participation credit towards rank promotion.

The Shield: TBD

Aegis acts as both the Aegis for the venue and the muscle during missions undertaken by the FC small groups for RP. During venues, you will be assigned an area for the evening depending on your tier. Those areas consist of the lobby, the entertainment floor downstairs, or the VIP area upstairs.Additionally, the highest ranked enforcers become personal Steel Aegis for our Whispers and other ranking officials in the FC. For small groups RP, at least one enforcer will be assigned to each group, each week. Your primary responsibility is to handle any combat related RP that may occur during the RP scene and to protect the rest of your group from harm.Aegises are also expected to submit a weekly debriefing/Aegis report. The report is due by Sunday night and its contents concern the previous week’s RP, not the current week’s RP. This report should include a debriefing on the mission from the previous week with a detailed report of what happened, and an Aegis review from the previous week that details any incidents that occurred at the venue that you were personally involved in.Interview Process:

Overseer: Allanthal Ricor

Members of the Vault are the market researchers and crafters/gatherers/dungeon crawlers of the FC. This is a NON-RP role with no event requirements, and exists outside of TWNs RP roles, so it does not apply to that requirement. However, Vault Members do have a rather large requirement for weekly turn-ins and market research upkeep, depending on their sub-role of choice. There are two subroles under The Vault: Indexes and Collectors. (These subroles are only noted within the server and on the directory. The role you will be given is called Vault Member.)PLEASE NOTE: The Vault role requires active use of google sheets and looking at a Notion board and/or Teamcraft list.Interview Process:

Mission Leader

Master of Missions: Roronzo Sesenzo

The Mission Leader is the heart of our mission system. They are the ones that are ultimately controlling the narrative as it plays out for our small groups. They do not make all the decisions or plans for the small group during the RP, but they do help design the narrative and keep the mission on track towards an ultimate goal. They also act as mediators and facilitators during disputes during combat or decision making amongst the group.Among the responsibilities a Mission Master is expected to perform:

  • You will control any NPC characters in a narrative. You may/may not control your own character depending on the mission, that depends on your personal style.

  • You will mediate any combat scenarios according to our combat system.

  • Remain impartial to all parties involving. Small groups may contain FC members, CWLS members, VIPs and guests. They are all equally important.

  • Creativity. Your primary responsibility is to be creative and create a fun and unforgettable experience for each mission that you DM.

  • Give players options. You are not simply telling a story, but letting them "choose their own adventure." Guide them to branching paths and let them make decisions, adapt your story to their decisions.

  • You are expected to DM one mission at least every two weeks.

Mission Leaders are paid a flat 150k per mission they DM. A Mission Leader may DM two missions per week for compensation.

Combat

Our FC utilizes a unique system of combat developed by one of our very own DMs, influenced by a passion for roleplay, an appreciation for randomness, and a distaste for uncharitable RNG that only serves to frustrate players. The system was developed to not be overly complex, as we kept in mind that the target audience is Final Fantasy XIV roleplayers, which while there may be some overlap, are not decisively all players that enjoy character sheets and traditional D20 rolls. The way combat works at The Whisper Network is simple. In a combat scenario, you, your party, and your target(s) have health points. There are two "turns" in a round, the players' turn and the DM's turn for the player's target(s).The Players' Turn
Players all attack at once, not in an orderly fashion, as everyone types at different speeds and there's little reason for each player to wait to take their turn. Every player attack is a success, there is no roll, you are free to roleplay a successful attack as strongly as you desire. Each attack results in a loss of one health for the target, per player.
ORA healer may heal themselves or another player for 1 HP per turn rather than attack for 1 damage. They may not heal and attack in the same turn.ORA bodyguard may block for 1 HP per turn, taking the damage for another player. This could result in them taking double damage on a given turn if they lose their roll and the person they are protecting loses their roll as well. The DM's Turn
The DM's turn is a little more traditional. Each target attacks utilizing a generic /random roll. The player that is being target responds with a /random roll, and the higher roll determines the success/failure of the attack. If the DM rolls higher, the attack succeeds and the player loses one health point. If the player rolls higher, the attack fails and the player does not lose any health.
(Credit to Roronzo Sesenzo for the combat system.)

Example (Credit: Roronzo Sesenzo)
((The party of three is beset by three bandits, the DM announces OOCLY 'Bandits are spotted on the road, coming towards you with clear killing intent. (Combat has started, please post your attacks that are guaranteed to hit. Once everyone has posted, the NPCs will post a response and roll to attempt to hit you. Then you will roll back to contest it, the higher number saying who succeeds and the lower saying who loses. Everyone has 3 HP, if you lose all of your HP you are incapacitated for the rest of that combat round. Good luck, have fun!)'.
Players Turn
P1: Roronzo lunges forward with his rapier drawn, stabbing a bandit in the knee.
P2: Tora flings a flurry of lightning from her fingertips upon her foe, and looks good doing it.
P3: Omelet flops over and kicks his footy-foots in the air, resulting in Goobbue magicks to smite his enemies in a...uh...look, he's cute and it just works.
DM's Turn
DM's round, the DM posts a response in a big post:
The first bandit lets out a pained SHRIEK as the needle of the Lalafel's sword slices through pants and leg meat. He near drops his lance as he staggers back, harried by the tiny man. Meanwhile, his compatriots are felled as well by ranged attacks--in a burst of umbral light, a man is consumed in lightning that cracks and tears at the very aether, leaving him very singed and shaking in his boots. The other man, he...he...well he's fallen over somehow. Just what power DOES that Goobbue command? Is he a hybrid?? A, dare I say it, A PRIMAL?!?
Next the DM looks at his bandits health. Hrrm, that was round one, his bandits can survive for two rounds cuz they have two HP, they can make a counterattack before being smote. He makes a second post:
The first bandit fights for his very life, as his blood dribbles down his leg and into the Thanalan sand. He makes to jab at the tiny mage at his heels, while the burnt bandit aims his arrows at the woman who hit him. The third man groans, looking paler than a ghost, but he stands and pulls out a his own bow, shakily aiming it.
DM's Roll:
333, 282, 999 = Bandit 1, Bandit 2, Bandit 3
Player's Roll:
P2: 669
P1: 001 (Roronzo's Player in CWLS chat: bRUH)
Omelet: 1000
DM's post:
DM: ((Tora and Omelet dodged, Roronzo took a hit! Posts your dodges/injuries, and attacks!))
Player's Turns:
P2: Tora has no time for silly boys and their little stick-and-string toys. If microwaving this man with lightning didn't get him to get the picture, a good old-fashioned grilling will have to do. An arrow slices through the air inches from Tora's horn, yet unphased boss lady snaps her fingers. A fireball appears over the man's head and drops on him like it's slime time on Nickelodeon.
P1: Taking a lance to the head isn't great. Luckily, Roronzo manages to stagger back--and only get stabbed in the foot. BUT OH THE PAIN...! He YELLS several expletives in--is that Mhachi? Weird--anyhow: he's disemboweling this man now, look away small children and goobbues.
P3: All Must Fear the Omelet. Puny Man, Think You Above the Gods of Eld? Tremble Before the Harbringer of Your Demise. Omelet burps.
